Thijs Deschildre
Embedded Engineer
My name is Thijs, and I work as a PCB designer at VAEngineering. My main responsibilities include designing schematics and PCBs, testing prototypes, and assembling products. Thanks to my experience in previous roles, I make a significant contribution to the team and the projects I work on.
Before joining VAE, I spent five years at Brightspec, where I was responsible for the complete production of measurement instruments, including testing, calibrating, and repairing devices. This experience enhanced my creativity and versatility, enabling me to achieve a lot with limited resources at VAE. I also worked in the repair service at Nobi, where I further honed my technical skills.
What I love most about working at VAE is the opportunity to develop my design skills and see products come to life through my efforts. Witnessing the tangible results of my work gives me a boost of motivation to take on new challenges and continue growing in my role as a designer.
My goal is to become a strong designer, someone who delivers beautiful and functional products and results. I want to continue growing within the VAE team, exploring the design aspects that best suit me and my skills.
Outside of work, I’m active in organizations like Nerdlab, a collective with a strong community focused on technology and creativity. I participate in projects like the Ghent Light Festival with them. Besides these activities, I enjoy photography and working on personal projects at home, where I design and experiment with new things using 3D printers and other machines. I also love being outdoors, camping, and taking long hikes, where I can combine my passion for nature and photography.
I want to be seen as a reliable colleague and professional who knows his craft and constantly strives for quality and innovation. My goal is not just to deliver results but to add value by finding the right pieces of the puzzle and coming up with great solutions in most situations.
