Spectricity
A new approach and possibilities to test and integrate camera chips developed by Spectricity.
Spectricity’s camera chips have introduced many possibilities to the market. To make it easier for users to test the chips, the team developed the idea of creating a GPU-based evaluation kit (EVK). This allows users to understand how the camera chips work and easily implement them in their own environment. This development led to increased interest in Spectricity’s products, resulting in more customers and partners.
To build the EVK, Spectricity needed expertise to translate their requirements into a functional product. They turned to VAEngineering, where they developed a detailed plan based on their specifications. The EVK had to be built on the NVIDIA Jetson platform, which was new to Spectricity and presented challenges. VAEngineering’s experience with Jetson helped them navigate the complexities, handling both the electronics and mechanical design, while Spectricity focused on software development. Together, they successfully launched the Spectricity EVK.
Five EVKs were initially produced for internal testing to ensure they met all expectations. During testing, some issues arose, including interference from an old lamp affecting the EVK. The devices were returned to VAEngineering, where they quickly identified and resolved the problems. With the issues fixed, production continued, and Spectricity eventually built around 100 evaluation kits.
Spectricity had previously worked with VAEngineering on smaller PCB projects. When they started this new project, they chose VAEngineering for their smooth collaboration and strong communication. After an initial meeting, Spectricity decided to move forward with them.
The collaboration was seamless. We wanted a smaller company for speed and quality, and VAEngineering delivered. They kept us informed, and challenges were quickly addressed. VAEngineering’s network also benefited us, as they connected us with a company to design the device’s enclosure.

This makes it easy for companies to develop new products and technologies, knowing that they are heading in the right direction. We thought that certain steps, such as solving emerging issues, would take a lot of time, but thanks to the experience and equipment available at VAEngineering, everything went very quickly and smoothly. Their focus on delivering high quality quickly is outstanding.
