Kidô Alarm

The Wearable Safety Device for Your Child Around Water

Would you like to keep children safe around water without the hassle of apps, unreliable tech, or complicated settings? Then you’re talking about Kidô.

What is Kidô Alarm?

Kidô is a startup developing safety solutions for children in environments where water is present. They are creating a wearable device for children that triggers an alert when it comes into contact with water. The goal is to support parents and caregivers, especially around pools, ponds, or other bodies of water.

Why was Kidô developed?

The idea came from a personal experience. Valérie, founder of Kidô, was looking for a solution to keep her own children safe in places where water was nearby. Existing products often turned out to be outdated, difficult to use, or technically unreliable or mostly pinned to the pool itself. After trying several options, she decided to create something herself.

Together with the design studio Raak, she started working on an initial concept. She knew exactly what she needed: a device that functions simply, without relying on apps or internet connectivity. To bring the technical side to life, VAEngineering was brought in. They are responsible for developing the hardware & software and advised on feasibility and scalability.

Collaboration with VAEngineering

A partner who thinks along. Valérie had little experience with product development and technology. She was looking for a team that communicates clearly, is flexible, and actively contributes ideas. Many of the companies she contacted previously were expensive or lacked true involvement.

During an initial meeting with Thomas from VAEngineering, there was an immediate connection. The focus wasn’t just on the technical details, they also offered insights on funding, certification, and the bigger picture. This created trust and momentum.

A step-by-step approach

The collaboration runs smoothly. Everything is clearly explained in plain language, so everyone stays on the same page. The project goes through several phases. Due to limited resources and the nature of product development, progress isn’t always continuous some periods are productive, others quieter.

Thanks to VAE’s flexibility, the team can adapt quickly when needed. Their network also helps connect with the right people for testing or additional expertise.

Current Status

Prototypes with the core functionality have been developed. While the product has not yet launched, preparations for testing and production are underway. Together with Raak Design Studio and VAE, the team is working to complete and refine the device.

What Kidô wants to achieve

Kidô is not meant to replace supervision, but to offer an extra layer of safety/protection in situations where water poses a risk. The solution is simple, reliable, and designed for quick response when something goes wrong.

No apps, no connectivity, no complicated settings, just a device that works, so parents and caregivers can feel a little more at ease.
